Sagesse wouldn’t exist without the support and dedication of volunteers. We use a peer-support model, which means that our programs are facilitated by volunteers. We also have volunteers who work in a variety of other roles to help support our mission and vision.
If you have the time, we have a way you can help. Click here to read more and to sign up to be a Sagesse volunteer!
1. SUPPORTING SURVIVORS
With your support, we’ve reached all corners of our province with empowering (and scientifically proven) peer support services.
2. ADVOCATING FOR UNHEARD VOICES
Abuse impacts all Canadians, but in many cases that impact is hidden or ignored. That’s why we advocate for systemic change to ensure survivors are heard and supported. This includes an amendment to the criminal code that recognizes the pervasive and deadly impact of coercive control.
3. EMPOWERING THE HELPERS
If you’re following Mr. Roger’s advice to “look for the helpers,” you can just look in a mirror to find one. In most cases, when someone experiences abuse, they go to their friends, family, neighbours and colleagues for help. And with one in three Canadians experiencing domestic abuse, chances are one of those “helpers” will be you. With your support, we’ve taught helpers how to have empathetic and non-judgmental conversations about abuse through REAL Talk.
