Sagesse empowers people of all backgrounds to disrupt structures of abuse through curating environments to heal and lead safe, healthy lives. With innovation as our programming cornerstone, Sagesse works for anyone who has experienced domestic abuse, including people who are at risk of being abused, informally support others, or are involved in sex work.

We work in more than 50 communities across Alberta – either directly providing service or partnering with agencies to deliver programs on our behalf. We are also the backbone agency for the Calgary Domestic Violence Collective and Alberta’s provincial IMPACT initiative.

Our social enterprise arm, ByDesign, is a hub of knowledge, experience, and innovation with an aim to disrupt norms, dispel disbelief, and deepen societal impact.

Competencies & Skills

  • Engages in curiosity and vulnerability (Brené Brown).
  • Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences or related field.
  • Five years’ experience with qualitative and quantitative evaluations.
  • Confident in developing and implementing impact and process evaluations using a mixed method approach to data collection.
  • Ability to engage in evaluation plan creation and implementation in support of agency strategic evaluation framework(s).
  • Strong knowledge of statistical techniques and concepts.
  • Excellent storyteller with the ability to effectively communicate agency impact, outputs, outcomes and knowledge sharing with key funding stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with developmental evaluation principles and implementation.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire and offer creative solutions to challenging situations.
  • Confident identifying areas of focus and further study based on data available.
  • Attention to detail and strong project management skills.
  • Experience with non-profit funding structures and principles is an asset.
  • Acts, learns, and makes decisions through cross-sectional, gender transformative and intersectional lenses.

Roles & Responsibilities

Evaluation

  • Contribute to the development of the organization’s evaluation framework.
  • Conduct and oversee program/initiative evaluations that include quantitative and qualitative approaches.
  • Research and implement innovative evaluation methods and measures required for measuring the agency’s impact.
  • Support staff in engaging with and developing comfort with data collection and data entry, as well as understanding the data.
  • Ensure the quality, integrity and consistency of data.
  • Participate in inter-agency work groups and collaborative opportunities relevant to program evaluation and outcome measurement.

 Reporting

  • Lead funder required reporting on all agency programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain funder financial reporting tracking system to ensure complete, on-time reporting.
  • Assist program staff, leadership, and Board of Directors in understanding and valuing program evaluation processes and rationales, specifically outcome measurements.

Supervision

  • Supervise evaluation staff and consultants including assuring performance management, project management and technical management as well as providing feedback, coaching, supervision, technical leadership and fostering teamwork.
  • Monitor, assess and report on staff performance.
