The Government of Alberta has provided $140,000 in funding to Sagesse to implement a Provincial Collective Impact Initiative to address domestic violence across the province. The initiative will bring together a network of service providers to address shared issues, enhance services and supports across Alberta and identify opportunities for large scale change. This work will build the capacity of service providers across the province and enable Albertans affected by domestic violence to have access to high quality supports in their communities.

Sagesse recognizes that large scale social change requires broad cross-sector leadership, coordination, collaboration and engaged citizens. Working together, we can change the prevalence of domestic violence and build healthy and sustainable communities throughout the province.

What is Collective Impact?

Sagesse defines collective impact as the commitment of a group of actors from different sectors to a common agenda for solving a specific social problem. Collective impact requires a centralized infrastructure, dedicated staff, and a structured process that leads to a common agenda, shared measurement, continuous communication and mutually reinforcing activities among all participants.

Sagesse would like to employ a collective impact model approach based on the I2L2 model (learn + leverage + influence = impact), to achieve our vision of preventing domestic violence in Alberta with a focus on the following areas:

Gather insight and knowledge

Leverage resources and the expertise and capacity of the collective membership

Influence systematic and structural changes to impact domestic violence across Alberta

Sagesse approaches our provincial work with a view of being community mobilizers, viewing our work as part of supporting communities to work collaboratively to build awareness and address issues of domestic violence. We encourage communities to not only work collaboratively within their own community but also with communities across the province who have shared issues, concerns, programs or opportunities for change.

Sagesse is an organization committed to breaking the cycle of violence for individuals, organizations and communities. Sagesse works closely with many associations, collaborations and collectives across the province to expand discussions of domestic violence, its impact and how we can work collectively to prevent violence.
